Australia, NSW, Buronga, 330kV 220MVA Phase Shifting Transformers (PST)

The first of five 300-tonne transformers has arrived at site, travelling from South Korea and trucked ‘the long way round’ from Port Adelaide to Broken Hill before heading south again to Buronga, NSW, just north of the River Murray, adjacent to the Victorian regional centre of Mildura.

Our transformer assembly specialists from the Technical Delivery Unit are now working hard to assemble the first of these 330kV 220MVA Phase Shifting Transformers (PST), some of the largest transformers in the southern hemisphere. The transformer unit consists of 1,395 individual components, which has presented plenty of new challenges for our team, who have successfully tackled them head-on.

This project showcases our leadership on projects supporting the renewable transition and our capabilities at the forefront of transformer technology. This project will support the increase of renewable infrastructure in the electricity grid and support network stability for NSW, SA and Victorian customers.
