Historic Energy Milestone in New South Wales
VINCI, through its subsidiary Cobra IS, alongside ACCIONA and Endeavour Energy, has successfully signed and closed financing on Australia’s first public-private partnership (PPP) for electricity transmission.
Key elements of the ACEREZ partnership’s PPP with the NSW Government include:
- Financing, design, construction, operation, and maintenance of:
- 240 km of 330 kV and 500 kV high-voltage transmission lines
- Approximately eight substations
- Infrastructure to connect renewable energy (solar and wind) plants
- 35-year contract extending through to 2060
- Delivery of 4.5 GW of new network capacity by 2028 – enough to power 2 million homes
Supporting the Central-West Orana REZ
The project is a flagship of NSW’s Central-West Orana Renewable Energy Zone (REZ), combining generation and storage infrastructure.
- Supports the transition away from coal-fired power stations
- Expected to generate 5,000 jobs at peak construction
- Could attract up to AUD $20 billion in private investment by 2030
Global Expertise, Local Delivery
Cobra IS brings extensive international experience in electricity transmission, notably in Brazil, and now applies this capability in the Australian market — reinforcing its position as a global energy infrastructure leader.
