Elecnor Australia achieved another major milestone on Project EnergyConnect with the 24-kilometre line between the Buronga substation on Arumpo Road to the Red Cliffs substation at Red Cliffs, Victoria now live.
Over the weekend, Elecnor successfully tested and commissioned the first new circuit between both substations, meaning the line is live between NSW and Victoria.
Crews from our Overhead Transmission Lines and Substation teams worked to ensure the smooth transfer without any interruption to power supplies.
It’s all part of a staged approach that will see the second new circuit between both substations tested and commissioned later this month before we can say the line is completely operational.
As part of this process, Elecnor is also decommissioning the 220kV line. This includes the dismantling and removal of tower sites, conductors and foundations as well as rehabilitation of tower site areas between September to December 2024.
