Key Achievements

  • The installation of six large primary equipment units is progressing well.
  • The six units include:
    ✓ Two power transformers
    ✓ Four shunt reactors
  • Two synchronous condensers (syncons) will be installed to enhance power quality.
✓ Each syncon weighs three hundred tonnes.
✓ Specialised buildings will house the syncons.
✓ Footings for the syncons and their buildings are complete.

Ongoing Work

  • Building erection continues.
  • Gantry crane installation is in progress.
  • Syncons will be transported to the site in pieces and assembled inside the buildings.

Recognition

Acknowledgment to all team members for their dedication and hard work.

More Info

Note. The steel building is where the Syn Cons (Synchronous Condensers) will be located.

Note2. Cost of Synchronous Condensers: Estimated cost: $15–20 million per unit.

Factors affecting cost:
✓ Size of the unit (MVA rating)
✓ System strength requirements

Example scenario:50–70 MVA synchronous condenser can offset system strength impacts from a 200 MW project.
