Billionaire mining magnate Andrew “Twiggy” Forrest has attacked current policy settings, saying they are leaving Australia’s renewable transition in the slow lane. The executive chairman of Fortescue Metals and chairman of Tattarang has questioned why the federal government spends billions of dollars supporting the fossil fuel industry instead of creating the right policy settings to drive investment in renewables such as the Inflation Reduction Act in the United States. Mr Forrest says nuclear power is a diversion and delay tactic by the fossil fuel industry.
